I am a few days behind on my posts. I have been on vacation with the family at Universal Studios Orlando and only have my iPhone for updates and access.
I have had a horrible time trying to find three vegan squares each day, let alone any snacks. Thankfully we had plenty of assorted nuts and dried fruit to keep me going between meals. This has been a true test of my will. I have been brought to the breaking point several times with only my commitment to seeing this journey through to the end keeping me together. If it were not for that commitment, I would have buckled by this point. My problem is that I am not eating vegan due to a moral dilemma. So, it is hard for me to stand my ground for anything less than a promise I made to myself.
Ultimately, it is important to know what the average vegan has to deal with on a day to day basis. When you are at home, it is not hard to adapt and improvise for a meal or evening, knowing you can easily hold out for a proper meal at home. When you are on vacation, especially in a contained area such as this, there is no such thing as waiting it out– day after day you end up running into the same issue.
It is late, I am tired and probably shouldn’t write anymore, as I don’t have my wits about me at the moment. Suffice it to say, it has been a difficult few days and I have learned a lot. Perhaps, more about myself than anything else.
I will post updates from the last few days after my return to Miami, tomorrow.
